Clarington Underserved Broadband Internet Program

The challenge. A rural broadband program crossing some of the most heavily regulated ground in Ontario: 35 major national pipeline crossings, 8 railway crossings, 2 provincial highway crossings and more than 20 watercourse crossings — each with its own authority, permit and conditions.

Our approach. Every crossing was designed and permitted by our own team before a rig arrived — pipeline crossing agreements, rail applications, MTO encroachment permits and conservation-authority approvals in parallel, so construction never waited on paper.

Delivered. 100 km of 12-way and 110 km of 24-way microduct, 20 km of 4-in duct, 6 km of 6-in duct — over 1,300 homes passed. Over 157,000 m installed in a six-month construction season by our own crews.

Rural Fibre-to-the-Home Program, Township of Brock

The challenge. Bring fibre to every home across an entire rural township for Canada’s largest cable operator — farmland, hamlets, regional roads and conservation-regulated lands, all of it unserved.

Our approach. We designed 283 km of network before a single metre was drilled. Design, municipal consents, regional road permits and conservation-authority approvals were all produced under our own roof — 100% of the design submitted and approved — then built by the same company that drew it.

Delivered. Three OLT service areas engineered end-to-end, 1,500+ homes passed with 350 fibre distribution hubs, construction self-performed in permitted seasonal windows — 11.5 km installed in a single spring window.

Government Facility Infrastructure Upgrade

The challenge. A secure government facility requiring 20 km of new duct infrastructure through a high water table and boulder-laden glacial ground — with sections engineered at depths beyond 10 metres.

Our approach. Drill planning matched to the ground: steel casing where the geology demanded it, mud programs designed for saturated till, and bore profiles engineered around existing buried services on a site where as-builts mattered.

Delivered. 18 km of 4-way and 3 km of 7-way duct plus 1 km of 6-in steel casing — installed to security and inspection requirements that go well beyond a standard right-of-way build.

Regional Broadband Corridor — Highway 2

The challenge. A joint-use fibre corridor for a municipally owned broadband corporation, built along a live regional highway — traffic management on an arterial road, rock sections requiring specialized removal, and a railway crossing at Newcastle.

Our approach. Joint-trench design shared between users to cut duplication, pipe fusion for continuous runs, and rail and rock work sequenced so highway lane closures were held to the minimum the region would notice.

Delivered. 6.7 km of corridor with 17 vaults across a 13-week production run, drilling 99.6% complete — plus additional joint-use trunk builds delivered for the same client on Highway 12 and regional roads.

Urban Aerial & Underground, City of Toronto

The challenge. Aerial strand and underground construction inside Canada’s densest permitting environment — City of Toronto road occupancy, Toronto Hydro pole attachments, and repeated railway crossings including Beare Road and Reesor Road, each a full engineering submission of its own.

Our approach. Our own permitting group runs the City, hydro and rail processes concurrently and packages each rail crossing — casing design, vaults, splice infrastructure — as a complete engineered submission, so approvals land in construction order.

Delivered. An active multi-year program of urban builds, dip crossings and rail bores for Canada’s largest cable operator — alongside work supporting transit infrastructure.

Brookfield Solar Farm — Fibre Backbone, Splicing & Maintenance

The challenge. Protect and maintain the fibre backbone of a producing utility-scale solar site — energized equipment throughout, wildlife damage to buried infrastructure, and a network the plant’s SCADA and communications depend on.

Our approach. Duct installation to armour vulnerable backbone runs, emergency splice response when damage takes segments down, and scheduled maintenance planned around generation — not the other way around.

Delivered. An ongoing maintenance partnership on live renewable infrastructure — the standard of care an asset owner expects when downtime is measured in lost megawatt-hours.

Critical Connections — Water & Community Infrastructure

The challenge. The connections nobody sees until they fail: fibre service to water towers and pumping stations, and service expansions for institutional sites including the Toronto Zoo and facilities in Mississauga and Bowmanville — each a congested site where the existing utilities matter more than the new one.

Our approach. Ontario One Call locates and hydrovac daylighting of every crossing utility before any bore, on every job — the discipline that lets us work beside watermains, force mains and energized plant without incident.

Delivered. A portfolio of critical-infrastructure hook-ups completed across the GTA and Durham Region — small in metres, high in consequence.
